Virgin Mobile is making changes to its Beyond Talk plans

Virgin Mobile announced rate plan changes for its Beyond Talk plans that will go into effect on July 20. Some customers will be seeing a slight increase in their monthly prices, while others will experience a slight decrease in their monthly bill.

Rumor: Verizon tiered data plans begin July 7

Back in May, Verizon’s CFO Fran Shammo hinted at Verizon’s plan to stop providing unlimited data for its customers. AT&T raises prices for early upgrades, contract-free phones and 1-year activations

Yesterday (April 3, 2011), new prices took effect across AT&T. The company has raised the cost on early upgrades for smartphones and quick messaging phones (feature phones). It has also increased prices for phones that are purchased without a contract. The iPhone however has gotten somewhat of an exception.

Troubled economy? Not for these gadgets

Despite uneasy feelings on Wall Stre5et, electronic gadgets are predicted to gain in sales by 3.5 percent over last year’s Q4. While overall spending is set to decline on holiday shopping, gadgets are somewhat immune. According the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association), specific gadgets will still do extremely well this holiday season.

Smartphones

Any product that increases connectivity with friends and loved ones will be spent on more heavily according to the CEA report. Consumers will forgo other luxury spending to get smartphones that can handle e-mail, texting, phoning and even Internet browsing. Consumers can justify the expense easier as the phone becomes integral to daily life.
