T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Amaze 4G available October 12
T-Mobile has officially revealed the release date and pricing for two of its upcoming 4G smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Amaze will be in stores on October 12, 2011. Online customers will be able to order the phones a couple days earlier on October 10. The elephant in the room regarding these phones are their prices. The HTC Amaze will cost $259.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, and the Galaxy S II will be $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. As usual, a two-year contract is required.
Archos G9 tablets begin launch September 30 at multiple price points
When we first heard about Archos’ new line of Honeycomb tablets, we were pleased by their low prices and optional 3G USB stick option. Archos is releasing these tablets at a time where consumers have made it abundantly clear that they are far less likely to spend $500+ dollars on a tablet no matter what its specs are. On September 30, the 8-inch Archos 80 G9 (8GB) tablet will be available through 20,000 stores around the world for $299.99. Pre-orders will start being accepted on September 20.
Sony S1 tablet less than a month away from release
Sony hasn’t been given the satisfaction of announcing the release date for its S1 tablet. Engadget has learned the tablet will be officially called the Sony Tablet S and may be priced at $599. The Sony Tablet S is expected to arrive in stores during the first couple weeks of September. A solid release date is still unknown.
Samsung Galaxy S II comes to the US in August
As popular as the Samsung Galaxy S II is in other parts of the world, it hasn’t been released in the United States yet. Previous reports pointed to negotiation difficulties with carriers due to the perceived demand for the smartphone. Nonetheless, an image for Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S II has already surfaced which suggested that a launch was imminent. Now Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy S II will arrive on US shores in August.

The Motorola Photon 4G has been confirmed for a July 31, 2011 release on Sprint. The Photon 4G is being promoted as Sprint’s first international 4G smartphone.
