Rdio adds options to disable Facebook sharing and Last.fm scrobbling

The privacy of your music habits is more secure than ever with Rdio. A few days ago, the company added a couple privacy options that relate to Facebook and Last.fm. On the Facebook side, you can now choose to opt out of automatically sharing everything you listen to on Rdio with Facebook (if those accounts are linked). You can also disable Last.fm scrobbling. Scrobbling basically means the songs you listen to on Rdio are added to your Last.fm profile. This new privacy option helps to keep everything separated.

Google News gets more social

And the Google+ expansion continues. This time, it has spread its influence over Google News even more. No longer will signed-in Google users only be able to +1 news stories they like. They will also be able to see what people in their circles and contact’s list are liking as well. This added feature should make Google News a more social experience as more people become associated with Google+ as time goes on.

Google+ update allows Circle sharing

Google+ received a small, but notable feature on Monday. The social network now lets you share your Circles. Since the beginning of Google+, Circles were restricted to the person that created them. Now everyone can keep up with updates from users they may not have found otherwise.

Facebook is also getting a “Read” button

Yesterday, Facebook announced some changes to Open Graph that makes leaving Facebook to consumer content almost unnecessary. For example, we can now watch Hulu videos from within Facebook and listen to music services from MOG and Spotify. Reading is also a gigantic part of internet browsing and Facebook wants in on that too. Within the next couple weeks or so, Facebook will start flooding the internet with a “read” button that goes right alongside the popular “like” button.

Google+ is always changing. It’s not unusual for Google to suddenly implement a new feature into Google+. In this case, Google has announced a couple new features that made their debut today and will continue rolling out through next week.
