Sprint, Sierra Wireless announce ‘smallest’ broadband modem, the Compass 597

Sprint and Sierra wireless have announces the countries smallest USB broadband modem – the Compass 597. The modem measure only 1.2 x 2.4 x 0.4-inches and weighs a mere 0.7-ounces, but don’t be misled by its size, because this tiny little device is packed with features. First, as a US modem, the Compas 597 offers an average 600kbps-1.4mbps down and 350-500kbps up. The Compass 597 also has a GPS feature through Sprint’s Location Service which is available to Sprint broadband subscribers. Sierra Wireless and Sprint also threw in an integrated microSD card slot for memory storage expansion, which has support for up to 32GB cards.

Sierra Wireless has announced the Compass 597 USB modem, which according to them “is smaller than any EV-DO Rev A USB modem in the market today.” Which I suppose as with anything mobile, a smaller size should be greatly appreciated. Less bulk to carry around and when it comes to a modem, its also less to protrude from your laptop and possibly get caught and damaged.

Sierra Wireless announce the Compass 885 USB, AirCard 885e ExpressCard

Sierra Wireless has unveiled the Compass 885 USB and AirCard 885e ExpressCard at Mobile World Congress. Both the 885 and 885e offer a compact design and will work with either Windows or OS X.
