CES 2012: This Sony VAIO computer is from the future

VAIO concept

We’ve seen at least one of Sony’s experimental products at CES 2012 this week. Today, we’ve stumbled upon a concept of what VAIO PCs could look like in the future. Sony simply calls this prototype “Slate.” It has a super thin, illuminated keyboard and a monitor that isn’t connected to anything. It honestly looks like a more »

Is Archos the company to finally do Android tablets right?

Archos’ recent announcement of its new G9 tablets came as a shock. If you told me there would be an Android 3.1 tablet with a 250GB hard drive, 720p front-facing camera, a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor and more for $279, I would have called you naive. It has become the norm to release Android tablets with high specs for around $500. There are some exceptions, but we don’t see cheaper tablets often enough. Is it possible that Archos has gotten tablet pricing right? Can this company be the one that fills the void that separates budget-priced yet inferior Android tablets and expensive yet modern Android tablets?

Archos G9 tablet will also have a separate version with Flash memory

Yesterday, Archos revealed two tablets that will sell at very competitive prices. The Archos G9 8-inch tablet and its 10.1-inch brother will go on sale for $279 and $359 sometimes this September. Both tablets will come with a 250GB built in hard drive, but there will also be a flash model.

Archos reveals two Android 3.1 tablets starting at $279

Who said a tablet running Android 3.1 had to cost over $300? Archos has revealed a couple new tablets with very tempting price tags, but very convoluted names. The Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9 will be going on sale in September. The 8-inch tablet will sale for $279 and the 10-inch will be $349.

Arnova 7 enters the 7-inch tablet market for $99

When we think of budget tablets, we tend to think of $349 devices such as the Vizio tablet, The Acer Iconia Tab or to a lesser extent, the Impression 10. Archos has shattered our vision of budget tablets by revealing the pricing for the Arnova 7. At only $99, this 7-inch tablet could go over well with those who aren’t too much into the latest technology.
