Deutsche Telekom details what T-Mobile will get from the failed AT&T merger

AT&T and T-Mobile USA announced the end of their proposed merger on Monday. The opposition raised by the United States government, rival carriers and advocacy groups proved too much for the two companies to push through. The proposed merger between AT&T and T-Mobile is looking less likely to happen every week. One way for AT&T to potentially save the deal is by divesting a lot of T-Mobile’s assets to make the merger appear smaller. If that happens, Dish Network wants to be the company that buys those assets. Should the merger be denied, Dish Network is considering partnering with T-Mobile.

Judging from these recently spotted (and not so high-quality) images, it appears as if Verizon is going to be releasing the LG Spectrum smartphone. According to the details that come along with, the handset will debut as the LG Revolution 2 and so far — nothing solid as to when. In terms of the specs, more »

AT&T prepares to sell off assets to improve chances of T-Mobile deal

AT&T will go to great lengths to make sure the FCC approves its acquisition of T-Mobile even if it involves selling $8 billion of its assets. According to The Wall Street Journal, AT&T has sought out Bank of America Merrill Lynch to assist it in selling off spectrum and customers. AT&T is believed to be selling off these assets to increase its chances of acquiring T-Mobile USA in 2012.

The FCC questions AT&T’s proposed spectrum purchases

Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission sent a letter to AT&T to inform the company that two of its proposed acquisitions will be examined jointly and not separate. Those two acquisitions are for T-Mobile USA and Qualcomm’s Lower 700 MHz D spectrum licenses. Qualcomm announced it was selling these licenses to AT&T in December 2010, but it hasn’t been approved by the FCC yet.

AT&T confirms data throttling for top 5% of data users

AT&T has confirmed this week’s rumor about the company moving away from unlimited data and into world of data throttling. Starting on October 1, AT&T will slow data speeds for the top 5% of data users. Chances are most of you reading this won’t notice any difference in speed. It’s still something to know just in case you use a bunch of data every month.
