Staples now accepts gadget trade-ins through Gazelle
A couple days ago, I came across a commercial for this company called Gazelle. Gazelle has a website that accepts second-hand electronics. Customers can see if Gazelle accepts their product, and get a quote for how much Gazelle is willing to pay for it. Gazelle also recently announced a partnership with Staples in which customers can get a Staples eGift card for trading in their products.
Black Friday 2011: BlackBerry PlayBook $199 at Staples
Isn’t it amazing how quickly the tablet market is changing? Not too long ago, we were flooded by tablets that were selling for around $500. It took the Nook Color and the TouchPad fire sale to get manufactures to realize the public does not want to spend that much money on something that isn’t an iPad. When RIM released the BlackBerry PlayBook, it sold for $500 despite lacking (and still lacking) very important features. RIM and retailers have been trying to move PlayBooks through promotional discounts, but that doesn’t seem to be working. It may take a good old fashioned Black Friday sale to get those PlayBook’s flying off shelves.
Staples becomes the latest to discount the BlackBerry PlayBook
It looks like Staples here in the US has become the latest retailer to begin offering discounted BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. The tablet pricing has been cut by $200 which means the price will come down to $299, $399 or $499 for the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB model respectively. And nicely done, the $200 price drop more »
Staples will start selling $79 Kindle on October 8
Amazon has started shipping the new keyboard-less Kindle as of yesterday, but it’s only a matter of time before retail stores will start stocking them as well. We’ve received word that Staples will have the $79 Kindle in stock starting on October 8. Keep in mind this is the ad-supported Kindle and not the more expensive $109 model.
BlackBerry PlayBook prices begin to drop in the US
We had recently begin to see the price of the BlackBerry PlayBook fall for those in Canada, and now it looks like those in the US are also going to be able to get in on the discount. The lower pricing in the US appears to be limited to just one retailer at the moment, more »
BlackBerry PlayBook prices begin to fall in Canada
The BlackBerry PlayBook has played a significant role in weighing RIM down lately. The tablet just isn’t pulling its weight and are causing RIM’s shares to fall. RIM decided some price cuts were in order to increase PlayBook sales. We saw the first instance of this in a Rogers employee sale which knocked the 16GB PlayBook price down to $249. Now it appears other stores in Canada are doing something similar for regular customers.
