Surprise! Nielsen says a lot of people use mobile devices while watching TV
A new Nielsen study has pointed out the obvious fact that people use their smartphones and tablets while watching television. I do it all the time and chances are you do too. However, Nielsen took the study a step further by finding out what owners of smartphones and tablets were doing while watching television. The results aren’t that surprising, but the accompanying statistics are.

Survey shows customers flocking towards e-readers more than tablets
A survey conducted by Pew Internet has shown that consumers are adopting e-readers at a more rapid pace than tablets. This is interesting because the mobile industry has been mostly focused on tablets since the iPad started having success. Besides the Kindle and the Barnes and Noble e-readers, tablets are always in the limelight.
Almost obvious results: Adults spend lots of time online
Thanks to a recent survey, which was done by Harris Interactive we are able to confirm some details that most of us already knew — adults spend lots of time online. Of course, that is not to poke fun at the survey, in reality it shows some interesting statistics. Just to begin with, the survey more »

Who’s on Crack in Tech: 03.27.09
I honked at guy yesterday that had a bumper sticker reading: “If you are not outraged, you’re not paying attention.” That pretty much sums out the last week. Yankee Group finds that Internet TV to boom in 2009
Have you ever noticed how the Internet is home to nearly as many videos/TV shows as you can find on the TV? Many people today watch TV on the Internet and it looks like that number will only go up as faster Internet speeds become more available.
Yankee Group recently conducted a survey on how people use the Internet and television and here are the results that they found. Multitasking is something that everyone does, and Yankee Group says that 56% of people when watching TV are also on the web doing other things such as instant messaging, e-mail, or looking at their favorite site.
Treo beats BlackBerry and iPhone — in malfunctions
Surveys like this are always very interesting as they show the real truths behind the reliability of products, not just the output of the company’s marketing department. In this case, SquareTrade, a research group, have taken it open themselves to tackle smart phones and to see their reliability (or lack thereof, as the case may be) over the first year of purchase. And what better to use than 15,000 handsets consisting of BlackBerrys, iPhones and Treos.
As my not-so-inconspicuous title suggests, the Treo performed poorly, in fact, surprisingly poorly! After one year 5.6% of all iPhones malfunctioned, followed by a sizable jump to 12% for the BlackBerry and a massive 16% of Treos. This is incredibly worrying if you have just a bought a Treo, but comforting if you have selected the iPhone!
