Today is a very lucky day for you! You get a two-for collector’s edition announcement. See, Konami is holding some press conference thing and decided to use it as a means to promote special editions of two forthcoming games. The first is Zone of Enders HD Collection, which you wouldn’t expect to get a collector’s edition, and the other is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which could never not get a collector’s edition.

Let’s start with the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Collector’s Edition, because it’s the shiniest and most mysterious. This is going to be a rather large bundle that includes the standard collector’s edition fare. You know what I mean – you’ll get the game, it’ll ship in a prettier box and of course a copy of the soundtrack. The shocker is that it will also include a high frequency plasma lamp shaped like Raiden’s sword. You know those plasma globe lamps you’d sometimes see in specialty stores like Spencers? You touch it and the light all goes to your fingertips? That’s a plasma lamp and apparently one will be shipped with this special edition. A price hasn’t been revealed for this bundle, but let’s try and guess. One of those plasma ball lamps costs about $29.99, so I’m going to guess Konami will sell the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Collector’s Edition for $99.99 when it’s released on February 19, 2012.

The Zone of Enders HD Collection Collector’s Edition is far more typical. The $59.99 bundle will include a copy of the game, the soundtrack and what appears to be a 100 page Zone of Enders art book. It all comes in an oversized box that comfortably fits everything. It’s your standard collector’s edition really, though some people may be surprised by the price. That’s because this is an HD port of PS2 games. The standard price for the game alone will be $39.99 when it’s released on October 30, 2012.

In both cases, the collector’s editions will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the games. I’d say that’s a given, but you can’t be too sure sometimes. Every once in a while, a company likes to surprise people with an exclusive so it’s best to make these things clear.
