Rockstar games announced yesterday (July 18, 2007) that a version of the company’s most non-controversial title, Table Tennis is Wii-bound. The title is being developed by Rockstar Leeds in Collaboration with Rockstar San Diego, and is due out Fall 2007.
The game itself is a fast-paced table tennis simulation, featuring tournament play and exhibition matches (the original also featured online play, though nothing’s been mentioned about that possibility on the Wii). Players can expect full Wii-mote controls to complement the already excellent physics engine.
The original 360 version was quite well received with its intuitive controls, good graphics and complete and utter lack of killing people or stealing cars. It baffled a few folks last year when it was released (“Rockstar’s making a ping pong game?”) but the gameplay was suitably intense and fun, despite the lack of frills. It might even replace Wii Sports as the casual sports game of choice on Nintendo’s platform.
