Okay collectors, race to your PCs! Some special editions are now available to pre-order. BioShock Infinite‘s site has been updated and the alarm sounded. The Songbird is coming. No, really, he is. Thanks to Irrational and 2K Games’ collector’s edition releases, you can actually own your very own Songbird.
Whether or not you get him depends on what you’re willing to spend. There are going to be two special editions, one with Songbird and one without. The one without is the Premium Edition. It gives you the game, a Murder of Crows vigor bottle keychain, a BioShock Infinite board game Handyman miniature, a “Light the Way” lithograph by Jorge Lacera, the Art of Columbia art book from Dark Horse Books, a download of the soundtrack and a DLC Upgrade Pack with Bull Rush, Extra! Extra! and Betrayer gear power-ups. There are also some version specific extras, with Xbox 360 owners getting Booker and Elizabeth Avatar items and themes being given to PS3 and Windows PC owners. The edition with a 9.75 inch tall Songbird statue is called the Ultimate Songbird Edition and includes everything listed above and Songbird.
The other main difference is the price. The Premium Edition is $79.99 for the PS3, Xbox 360 or PC bundle. It isn’t too bad a deal, considering everything you get. It’s just $20 more than the game alone. The Ultimate Songbird Edition, however, is much more expensive at $149.99. I suppose that’s to be expected, seeing a show you’re getting an almost 10 inch tall, hand-painted, limited edition statue.
I know I often put down collector’s editions for being too expensive and not giving enough extras in return, but somehow the BioShock Infinite Premium Edition sounds like a good deal. It gives people a lot of awesome stuff. It’s especially nice that the miniature, keychain and statue are all in their own boxes inside the bundle box, in case you want to keep them in mint-condition and display them somewhere.
