The multiplayer mode may have been cut and the release date moved to February 2013, but at least there will be a lot to keep us busy when Bioshock: Infinite finally comes out. Irrational Games has been whetting our appetites for the high-flying FPS for the past few months with announcements of an art book, a collector’s edition and, now, a board game.
Irrational Games has teamed up with Plaid Hat Games to bring the Bioshock Infinite experience to the table top with Bioshock Infinite: Siege of Columbia. This board game will thrust players into an alternate universe 1912, where the city of Columbia, Illinois, has been taken to the skies and is embroiled in a Civil war between the Founders and the Vox Populi.
Players will play either the Founders or the Vox Populi while they battle to control Columbia, completing missions that range from assassinations, destroying strongholds and capturing objectives, all while Booker and Elizabeth, the main characters of Bioshock Infinite, cause havoc for the players.
Plaid Hat promises that Siege will be a significantly different experience from the game. Ken Levine stated to The Verge that, “No one involved was interested in recreating the video game experience in a board game”.
No release date for the board game has been announced but, considering that Infinite recently announced a February 2013 release date, you can expect that you’ll be staging the siege of Columbia on your kitchen tables very soon.
