Around this time last year, you were quaking in fear and excitement at the exact same time. It was because you knew Corpse Party was coming and XSEED had issued an open invitation in the hopes you’d come along and experience one of the creepiest horror adventures you could make with RPG maker. People came, enjoyed and rejoiced. Now, the nightmare begins anew. Corpse Party: Book of Shadows has been announced and PSP and Vita owners alike will be able to download it before 2012 ends.

Unlike the original game, which had some mild RPG elements, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is a horrific point-and-click adventure. You must explore eight chapters, which look closer at the students and teacher trapped in Heavenly Host Elementary in Corpse Party. You might find out more about what happened in the original game, what could have happened but didn’t and what happened to some of the people who managed to make it out of Heavenly Host alive.

With that kind of setup, you’re probably wondering if you can play the sequel without having experienced the original. The answer is yes. You’d just see Corpse Party: Book of Shadows as being a collection of horror stories. But, you don’t have to go in blind. Corpse Party is one of those PSP games that’s compatible with the Vita, so anyone can go ahead and go through the first before enjoying the second.

Besides, the original Corpse Party is going on sale! You can get it for $9.99 between October 23 and November 6, 2012. Think of it as a Halloween sale and a celebration of the Corpse Party: Book of Shadows announcement. You have no excuse now! Go play the original Corpse Party, at the very least. I have it, love it and highly recommend it.
