Frictional Games wants you to scream. It needs the sounds of your agony for it’s next game, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. If there was ever a more appropriate Halloween request from a game developer, I haven’t heard it.
There’s no reward for your screaming. No prizes are offered here. All you get is the smug satisfaction that the sounds of your screaming, moaning and whimpering could very likely end up as part of the final soundtrack for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and go on to terrify anyone who plays that game in 2013. For people with a twisted sense of humor, that’s probably enough to make it worth the effort. Frictional Games just needs a little extra authenticity.
In fact, if you need motivation, Frictional Games is willing to help. The new Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs trailer was just released today. (Another example of perfect timing.)
Okay, that wasn’t all that scary. It was more about showing off gameplay. Which means you’ll probably have to turn to Amnesia: Dark Descent if you want your screams to be super authentic.
If you’re really interested in contributing, the email address Frictional Games is offering up for sound files is “firstname.lastname@example.org”. See, because the people screaming are going to be “piggies.” MP3, OGG and WAV files will be accepted, which means you should have no trouble recording the sounds of horror. Audacity should work quite nicely, if you need a free recorder for this project.
