Game developers can make some very impressive titles using HTML5. HTML5 is poised to replace Flash as the years go on. If you want an example of what’s possible with HTML5, check out a new game called Save the Day by Denki. It works great in a web browser, and can easily make itself at home on mobile devices if the developers choose to take it in that direction.
In Save the Day, you play as a helicopter pilot that has to save innocent people before a natural disaster wipes them all out. You only have a limited amount of time to do this, so each session is only going to last a few minutes. What I like about Save the Day is its very colorful art and reassuring sound effects that very frequent and random. It sort of reminds me of pinball machine sounds.
Save the Day has social elements, but you aren’t required to sign in to Facebook or make a separate account to play. You should check it out when you have a few minutes to spare.
