BioWare has made a couple announcements regarding the next game in the Mass Effect franchise. The game is currently in development at BioWare Montreal. BioWare Edmonton handled development duties on the first three Mass Effect games. BioWare Montreal studio director Yanick Roy also confirmed the next Mass Effect game will use the Frostbite (Battlefield 3, Dragon Age 3: Inquisition) engine as opposed to the Unreal Engine.

BioWare Montreal’s work on the Mass Effect franchise included creating cinematics, N7 missions and contributing to downloadable content for Mass Effect 2. The Montreal Studio also created the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect 3 and provided assistance in the single-player campaign and the upcoming Omega DLC.

No further information was provided in terms of the setting or plot.
