Musika, a new music game made by Parappa The Rapper/VibRibbon creator Masaya Matsuura, is currently live on the iTunes music store. Musika is a title for 5th generation iPods, enabling you to play with your music, lest you feel that simply listening is too passive.
The game itself is gathering some praise as a casual, trippy sort of visualizer/game hybrid. The way it works is a song will play and characters will appear onscreen in the midst of a visual maelstrom. Your job is to hit the center button when you see a character that’s in the song title – faster reactions net more points and special icons can be hit for “bonus effects.” The idea is to facilitate gameplay that is simple, addictive and guaranteed to suit your musical tastes sinec i’s based on your music.
One thing is for sure, if you’ve ever wanted to play a game out of Madonna’s “Material Girl” on the privacy of your own iPod, here’s your chance. The title is licensed by Sony BMG and available for download now for $5 on the iTunes music store.
