PS Vita owners are now one step closer to PlayStation Plus-dom. The latest Vita firmware is now available. So drop what you’re doing, plug in your Vita and get to downloading firmware 2.00. Trust me, you won’t regret it even if you aren’t planning on subscribing to PlayStation Plus.

Vita firmware 2.00 does more add PSN+. The second biggest addition is an email app that makes checking email on a Vita much easier. Wi-Fi data transfer is available should you want to move stuff from the Vita to your computer and vice versa. Folders can also be transferred from the computer and PS3 to a Vita as well.

The other Vita firmware 2.00 updates are relatively minor fixed that are supposed to make the general user experience better. The maps GPS function now shows what the weather is like outside. The notification settings have been improved and allow people to choose what kinds of alerts they receive. The browser has been improved as well and apparently there are other, general fixes.

PlayStation Plus is definitely the biggest and best improvement. If you have a membership, look forward to getting Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, Gravity Rush, Jet Set Radio HD, Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048 for free after the PlayStation Store updates later today.
