We were given the head’s up about this a little while ago, and now it has become a reality. Google has removed all anonymity from Google Play reviews. Whenever you try to post a review from your Android device or the Google Play website, Google will inform you that your Google+ name and profile picture will appear alongside the review.
Any review you may have written in the past will remain, but your name will be changed to “a Google user.” If you don’t have a Google+ account, you won’t be able to fully take part in the review process.
This move is sure to create differing opinions. On one hand, taking away anonymity can create more constructive reviews and reduce spam comments. On the other hand, some may not feel comfortable presenting their name and picture in their reviews. How do you feel about this?
