G4, the cable channel dedicated to videogames, has closed the voting for this year’s annual G-Phoria awards, airing the results last night (August 8, 2007) on its review show, X-Play. The show is hosted by the gutteral-voiced Adam Sandler and sexy, Amazonian, Morgan Web.

There weren’t any huge surprises, except maybe that the best system was the Xbox 360, even though the Wii has been selling well and usually seems to get favorable reviews from the channel. Of course the awards were voted on by gamers (so there’s no accounting for critical taste).

Gears of War took the most awards including Game of the Year. The Wii had a decent showing with four games and not one PS3 exclusive won an award.

This year’s award winners are:

  • Best Voiceover: The Mighty Rasta as “Augustus ‘Cole Train’ Cole” – Gears of War (Xbox 360)
  • Best Soundtrack: Guitar Hero II (PS2/Xbox 360)
  • Best Graphics: Gears of War (Xbox 360)
