Microsoft has finally announced the pricing for its upcoming Surface Pro tablet PCs. The cheapest model will come with 64GB of storage for $899. There will also be a 128GB version available for $999. Both models will be available in January. They will also come with the Surface pen. The Touch Cover and Type Cover keyboards will be sold separately.
Microsoft Surface has been subject to some confusion. So far, Microsoft has released the Windows RT version of Surface for $499. You’ve probably seen its commercials with all the people snapping the keyboard on the tablet in rhythmic fashion. That version of Surface is more of a tablet than an actual PC. It has a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, and can only run apps from the Windows 8 App Store. Microsoft Surface Pro on the other hand is a full blown PC. It has an Intel Core i5 processor, and can run Windows 7 software.
So if you’re looking for a hybrid device that loaded with Windows 8, Surface Pro may be what you want.
