Have you ever had a game that you pretty much bought a system for, just so you could enjoy it? That’s pretty much what I did with Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. Though to be fair, at the time I bought the used Xbox for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath and Jade Empire, but it’s still close enough. Now I wish I’d waited, because it turns out Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD wasn’t all that far away from its Vita release. In fact, it’ll be home in time for Christmas. Just Add Water has taken to Twitter to confirm the game will arrive on the PlayStation Store on December 18, 2012.
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD is a fun, wacky kind of game that I find is probably the easiest of the Oddworld games to get into. Players step into the shoes of a bounty hunter named The Stranger. He’s a mysterious man who uses critters from the environment to wrangle his bounties, which he then turns in for cash. Naturally, he gets involved in some larger plot to save a town and its citizens from some big bad and comes through to save the day.
The Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD news isn’t all good, however. Despite being available for both the PS3 and Vita soon, the two versions will have nothing to do with one another. You won’t get the Vita version if you buy the PS3 version, or vice versa. The save files for one version also won’t work with the other. They’re minor woes, but the fact that we are getting such an awesome classic to play anytime we want, on the go should be good news enough on its own.
What we don’t know about Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD on the Vita is the price. Go ahead and assume it’ll be $9.99, as that’s what it is on the PS3 and for Windows. It seems like a safe enough bet that the price won’t vary.
