DeNA released its latest card combat game for Android today that’s based on the Transformers brand. Transformers: Legends is a free-to-play game that’s powered through DeNA’s Mobage platform. It’s been designed with HTML5 elements to create a smoother and better performing experience overall.

Some of DeNA’s games such as Marvel: War of Heroes has an interface that is purely browser-based. That means the visuals, sound effects and the user interface in general comes off as dated to those who are used to smartphone apps. Transformers: Legends steps up the production values with better designed menus and a faster reaction time between button presses.

The goal of Transformers: Legends is to build the ultimate deck of cards for the Autobots and Decepticons. Character and weapon cards can be obtained by carrying out missions that don’t require you to do anything but tap the screen when indicated.  You can use these cards to powerup other cards if you can’t find any other use for them.

Another big component of this game is PVP combat. You can take on other players in 9 vs. 9 combat. The battles are totally automated. It may take some time to fully understand how to get the most out of your cards, but there’s some fun to be had while doing so.
