You know, call me a hypocrite for being okay with more Naruto fighting game releases while mocking every new Call of Duty that comes along. I’m fine with that. It’s just that each Naruto iteration, especially each new Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm entry, feels different so I’m actually excited about Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Namco Bandai’s just revealed its March 5, 2013 launch date and I’m really looking forward to it.
For starters, the story mode covers a whole new era in the Naruto chronicles. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 begins with a flashback to when the Nine-Tails first attacked Konoha. After that, it fast forwards to the point in the Naruto Shippuden storyline where Naruto and his team are running to take part in the Five Kage Summit. From there, it goes all the way until the Shinobi World War when things get real and Madara Uchiha and the Akatsuki start bringing the pain and all other ninja must band together to fight back.
Not to mention the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 character roster. Do you know how many people there are in this game? There are over 80 characters and they’re all playable. That’s just awesome. There will also be really big and awesome boss battles too, so look out for that.
By the way, there’s one more reason Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is extra cool. The first run copies have a code to download a Dragon Ball Z Goku costume for Naruto to wear. That’s pure awesome right there. I think it might make the whole first day, $59.99 purchase worthwhile for some PS3 and Xbox 360 owners. If you don’t want to spend $60 right away, then I think you’ll be fine if you wait. The Naruto fighting games do typically drop in price after about three or four months if you’re willing to be patient.
