PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Are you bored of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale already? Have you beaten the game with all 20 characters already? Well then, Sony and SuperBot Entertainment’s Valentine’s Day surprise should delight you. You’ll be able to rediscover your love for Sony’s brawler with both of them on February 12, 2013. Granted, it’s two days before Valentine’s Day, but still. That just means you can make sure you have both of them downloaded and installed for the big day.

In case you aren’t sure who they are, here’s an intro. I’m including the official PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale trailers for each since they’re awesome. We’ll start with Kat, because I like Gravity Rush. She’s a “shifter,” which means she has the unique ability to warp gravity, which is due to help from her cat Dusty. Since she primarily kicks and uses gravity attacks in Gravity Rush, that’s how she attacks in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. In fact, most of her special attacks are the same.

Starhawk‘s Emmett Graves is the other character new character. It’s a third-person shooter. Emmett also has special abilities, as he was exposed to Rift Energy in his game while working as a miner. The exposure usually mutates people into Outcasts, but Emmett retained his humanity and used his new abilities to fight Outcasts. As you can guess, he uses some special abilities based on that energy in battle, but also relies a lot on guns and turrets for attacks.

Both Kat and Emmett will be identical to non-DLC characters when it comes to abilities, costumes and even arcade mode stories. They each will also have their own challenges for Trial Mode. They will be free until February 26, 2013, then people have to pay for them.

Sony also hinted that more DLC will be coming to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. The Kat and Emmett announcement closed with a new level announcement and a hint that another DLC announcement will be made in March 2013. I’m hoping Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII) or Commander Shepard (Mass Effect) get added to the game!
