Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
When it comes to multiplatform games, people usually go with a version that’s out first for a console they own. Which means a lot of people who wanted Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed probably bought it in 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii or Wii U and figured they didn’t need the PC, Vita or 3DS version. However, Sega’s made Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed‘s Windows incarnation a lot more tempting today, as it is the only one that will feature characters from Valve’s Team Fortress 2.

Yes, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on the PC is the exclusive home of the Heavy, Pyro and Spy Team Fortress 2 characters. Each one is in the game, ready to race. You can see them in action, in fact, as Sega’s released a new trailer showing them off.

Heavy, Pyro and Spy aren’t the only exclusive newcomers to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. The PC version also has the Manager from Football Manager and the Shogun from Shogun: Total War. I’m sure they won’t be as highly anticipated as the Team Fortress 2 favorites, but a larger racer lineup is always a good thing. This is especially true as each new exclusive character also has his own exclusive car.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will arrive on Steam on January 31, 2013. If you pre-order it through Valve, you get it at a 10% discount. So buy it now, you pay $26.99. Wait and buy it later, and you pay $29.99.

Is anyone actually planning on buying Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed now that there’s a Team Fortress 2 mashup? I have to admit, it is a smart addition. Maybe the whole thing would have been a bit sweeter though if a second pre-order promotion had been Sonic the Hedgehog hat DLC for Team Fortress 2.
