bioshock infinite: mind in revoltBioShock Infinite won’t be entering our lives until March 26, 2013, but there’s a way to learn a little more about Columbia before it launches. Irrational Games’ Joe Fielder and Ken Levine have written a prequel. On February 12, 2013, people will be able to learn a little more about the city in the sky with BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt. If you have an eReader or tablet and access to the Amazon Kindle Store, you’ll be able to pick it up for $2.99 and be more informed than the average BioShock fan.

BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt is more of a novella than a prequel novel. BioShock Infinite‘s writer, Fielder, and creative director, Levine, put it together to offer some backstory into Columbia and perhaps set the scene for the events that will bring Booker to the city to rescue Elizabeth. I say “perhaps” as the actual plot for BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt has yet to be revealed. It’s all a mystery at the moment. All we really know is people from Irrational Games wrote it, it’s an Amazon exclusive and it’s 30 pages long.

If you’ve already pre-ordered BioShock Infinite from Amazon, you should pay particular attention to BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt. You’re getting it for free with your order. I guess that’s one of the bonuses to ordering the game early. Amazon hasn’t said if access to the ebook will be granted when it launches on February 12, or if people who pre-ordered BioShock Infinite will have to wait for their copy of the game to ship before they get their BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt eBook.

I have to say, I’m not happy with the BioShock Infinite: Mind in Revolt price. $2.99 is a lot of money for something so short. If I were a BioShock super-fan who decided I’d have to have it, I wouldn’t be willing to spend more than $1 or at most $2.
