Here’s some good news, Atlus is going to release a Etrian Odyssey IV demo for 3DS owners to sample before they commit to the latest dungeon crawler. Even better news is that it will arrive on the eShop on February 7, 2013. However, the best news of all is that people who play the Etrian Odyssey IV demo will be able to transfer their demo saved data to the full game and pick up where they left off when the game is released on February 26, 2013.

This is pretty big news. So far, no 3DS eShop demo has allowed people to continue their progress from where they left off at the last point in the demo. The Etrian Odyssey IV demo will be the first. It makes the demo really worth grabbing.

The Etrian Odyssey IV demo will actually cover the initial moments of the full game. Players will go through the tutorial, the tutorial Old Forest Mine dungeon and get to see the a good portion of the first Lush Woodlands area and take a skyship out on the Windy Plains. Most of the shops will be open for business and you’ll be able to start making your own guild and warriors. You’ll even be able to swap Guild Cards with other Etrian Odyssey IV demo players via QR codes. However, the demo won’t have the ability to swap Guild Cards via StreetPass. You’ll have to wait for the full game for that.

If you’ve never played an Etrian Odyssey game before, I really recommend trying the Etrian Odyssey IV demo. The games are typically quite difficult and demanding, but are also very satisfying at the same time. Give it a chance. The demo is free, after all. It’s not like you have anything to lose except for a few hours.
