I want a Wii U now. I don’t care how much it costs. After that Wii U Nintendo Direct, I just know I have to have one. Do you know how many new games Satoru Iwata announced during the presentation? Five. He also hinted at a handful more. I need a Wii U soon, because I can’t miss out on any of this.

Yarn Yoshi is the game I am now most excited for and looks like it will make all the dreams I didn’t know I had come true. It’s by the people who did Kirby’s Epic Yarn and features our favorite green dinosaur going through fabric worlds. He looks like a little amigurumi toy in that screenshot up there! It’ll be an action platformer, naturally, and the cutest thing ever.

My second favorite thing shown was Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. Nintendo and Atlus are teaming up for a some kind of Wii U mashup and it was announced at the Wii U Nintendo Direct. All we know is that it will combine game elements from both series and likely story elements as well. Also, it’s a Wii U game.

There are also two newish Legend of Zelda games. The first is The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Reborn. It’s an HD remake of the original The Wind Waker and will be released in Fall 2013. The other game is a mystery and will be a completely new Legend of Zelda adventure.

Another mystery Wii U Nintendo Direct game is a new Xeno game. You know how there was Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade? All three were made by people from Monolithsoft, though they had nothing really in common aside from being RPGs, and now there will be a fourth made with Tetsuya Takahashi and Kunihiko Tanako both definitely on board. It will feature characters fighting on foot and in mech units against monsters and the distinctive Xenogears X was assigned to it, so perhaps this could be a true sequel to Xenogears on the Wii U.

Then there are the Wii U Nintendo Direct games we didn’t learn much about. We saw passing glances and promises of more information later, likely at E3 2013. One is a sequel to Wii Party. New Super Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros are on the way. Also, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and Game & Wario were briefly shown.

If you missed seeing the announcements of all these games and want to catch the snippets, the official Wii U Nintendo Direct website has the video up. You can watch it whenever you like and skip ahead to the parts you most want to see.
