Your Crysis 3 excitement is at its peak as the game’s release date looms. The only thing that could make it better is a Crysis 3 multiplayer beta that would last for two weeks and would provide an opportunity to test out two modes, two maps and the New Tork Feed. Coincidentally, that’s exactly what EA has just announced. On January 29, 2013, potential players will be able to explore the Airport and Museum while experiencing the Crash Site and Hunter Mode multiplayer.
The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta’s Crash Site mode seems most familiar. A group of players must work together as they move across the Airport or Museum, protecting certain spots as they do. Each player earns points for his or her performance along the way, so there will be some “winners” and “losers,” but as a whole it is more about protecting the area.
The Hunter Mode matches sound much more intriguing. Each one has 12 players. Of those, 10 are CELL troopers and two are hunters. The CELL troopers can’t see the hunters, but the hunters can see them. Within a certain amount of time, the CELL troopers must defeat all hunters or the hunters must defeat all CELL troopers. The catch is, if a hunter takes down a trooper, the trooper then switches teams and becomes a hunter. I really like the sound of that.
The New York Feed, meanwhile, is a social feed that will be present both in the full version of Crysis 3 and the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta. Whatever you do will be attached to your profile. If someone looks you up, they can see what awesome things you’ve done and you can try and compete against one another to ee who is better.
EA has said the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will begin for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners on January 29. It hasn’t said anything about it being closed, so apparently it will be open to anyone who wants to download the beta and give it a try. Just be aware that, as a beta, there will likely be bugs, glitches and crashes. This is EA’s means of seeing how the servers will hold up once the full game launches, after all.
The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will end on February 12, 2013. Coincidentally, that’s one week before the game will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. I guess those two weeks of play are designed to lure you in and EA is hoping people will be so addicted that they’ll immediately pre-order so their copy will be guaranteed come February 19, 2013.
