Back in 2011, Focus Home Interactive published Rotastic on XBLA. Rotastic was an okay game in its own right, but had mechanics that were better suited for mobile platforms. In June 2012, we learned Rotastic would be making its way to iOS and Android under the name Knights of the Round Cable. Since then, the game has taken on yet another name change, and is now referred to as Super Knights. Super Knights was just released on the Android platform under Chillingo for free.

The core gameplay is just as it was in Rotastic. Your heavily-bearded knight will swing and rotate around on pegs scattered across each level while he collects a lot of gems. However, Super Knights is not an exact copy of Rotastic. You’re automatically moved from area to area until you eventually fall victim to random hazards. Your performance dictates how many coins you earn. The coins can be spent in the in-game store on upgrades and new knights.

In many ways, this is an entirely new game that happens to use the same mechanics as Rotastic. I think it’s worth checking out if you have some time to kill.
