This week, we get a new adventure game from Double Fine Productions and Ron Gilbert, the creator of Maniac Mansion and the Monkey Island games. The Cave asks you to make a team of three and go into the depths of the earth. The cave itself is a mysterious, talking entity with a warped sense of humor. There are seven characters in total, with different special abilities. These powers can unlock areas that only they can reach, and there are important story elements in those locations. Gilbert’s mind always comes up with something on the unusual side, and we love him for it. The Cave is 1200 Microsoft Points. ($15)

The Dead Space 3 demo is now live also. Icy planet Tau Volantis could be the key to ending the Necromorphs forever. Wait a second! If they end the Necromorph threat, there won’t be any more Dead Space games. Sorry, Issac. I want you to live and all, but we’re going to need you to take one for the team. No eradicating the Necromorphs. Dead Space 3 adds co-op, and new character John Carver, a soldier. Other players can drop in or drop out as they feel like, with different story elements for co-op.  Dead Space 3 will be available February 5, 2013.

A new episode of Halo 4’s Spartan Ops is available this week, concluding Season One. It’s a co-operative multiplayer mode with new episodes coming regularly. It’s free for Xbox Live Gold members.

Max Payne 3 adds the Deathmatch Made in Heaven DLC with four new game modes: Dead Man Walking, Run and Stun Mode, Marked Man and Time Attack. It’s 800 MP ($10) or free for Season Pass owners.

Coming January 29 is Revolution, the new DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It features a new Zombies mode and map, four new multiplayer maps and a new weapon, the Peacekeeper submachine gun.
