Our Aksys, who art in California, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, because you’re the lovely people bringing the Vita port of Muramasa: The Demon Blade to North America as Muramasa Rebirth. The glory of VanillaWare will live on as this fantastic company has decided to grace our lives with this beautiful game.
Even better, Muramasa Rebirth is guaranteed to be better than the original release of Muramasa in North America. Part of that is due to the additional content. The graphics are all hi-res and HD now, with better controls. It also has four DLC characters and scenarios to expand the story. The other part is the fact that Aksys is completely relocalizing the game. I mean, thanks to Ignition for bringing it over the first time, but the translation was terrible.
That’s guaranteed not to happen with Aksys. I mean, look at their track record. The team has done 999, Virtue’s Last Reward and Hakuoki. All three were very text heavy games and all three came out perfectly. Muramasa Rebirth will finally get the release and translation it deserves.
Right now, Muramasa Rebirth does not have a set release date yet. However, the Amazon listing says it will be out June 25, 2013 for $39.99. It also says there will be some kind of pre-order bonus, but doesn’t specify what that will be. I guess people will either have to wait, or pre-order now and let the bonus be a surprise!
