With less than eight hours to go in its Kickstarter campaign, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters has been successfully funded. At the time of this writing, $200,775 were pledged to Spicy Horse Games to bring a smattering of features to the game. Thanks to the community, we will see an Android, iOS and Linux version of Akaneiro: Demon Hunters. Cooperative play and a crafting system will also eventually find its way into the game. Those are some of the biggest upcoming features, but Spicy Horse has a long list of smaller features on its Kickstarter page. When combined, these features will make Akaneiro: Demon Hunters a much more robust game than what it is now.
When the Akaneiro: Demon Hunters Kickstarter went live, some questioned whether it was necessary. After all, the game was already being beta tested and was going to be released to everyone regardless of the outcome. Spicy Horse founder American McGee told GamerTell in a recent interview one reason the company decided to launch the Kickstarter campaign so late was to prove to players it had an actual playable product worth backing. The success of this Kickstarter proves players agreed with that line of thinking.
Akaneiro: Demon Hunters really rallied in its final hours on Kickstarter. It raised more than $7,000 in around 12 hours. If you want to play the game now, you can visit the Spicy Horse website and start playing either through the browser or a dedicated executable file.
