The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available for Android, but only in certain countries. If you live outside Australia or the Netherlands, Google Play will not let you download the game even though it contains English dialogue. If you just can’t wait to get your hands on this game, there’s a way to trick Google Play into thinking your account is based in one of the supported countries. In order to pull this off, you’ll need to have a rooted device and an app called Android Market Enabler.
Android Market Enabler fools Google Play into thinking your account is associated with a country where you don’t reside. This app can’t be found in Google Play anymore, but the APK file lives on in the cloud thanks to a XDA forum member. Once that app is installed, open it up and go to the tab that says “settings list.” From there, scroll down to the option that says [au] Telstra (Telstra) and long press on it until you see the “fake this provider now” option. When you do that, you’ll be able to open Google Play and search for The Simpsons: Tapped Out.
The download should happen without any problems. Of course, there’s always the chance something could go wrong. There’s also an inherent risk when dealing with rooted applications that you have to sideload onto your device. If that kind of thing doesn’t scare you, follow these instructions and get to playing.
