Just when you feel Temple Run 2 may be all you need for at least a good two or three weeks, people go and announce a whole other Temple Run game. Disney’s arranged another tie-in with the infinite runner to help promote Oz the Great and Powerful. The end result is, appropriately enough, Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful. Apparently, we can’t let a major app by without seeing if it can be used as a commercial.
The thing that really gets me is, Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful is being released so soon after Temple Run 2. It’ll be out February 27, 2013. Give people a chance to pause and play some other games before shoving one endless runner after another at them. They need variety.
I suppose some people may actually want another Temple Run spin-off. Temple Run: Brave garnered quite a bit of attention. Its Google Play product listing says it has been installed between 500,000 and 1,000,000 times, which is pretty admirable. So perhaps a demand is there for Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful.
The one thing we don’t know is if the iOS and Android versions of Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful will be available on the same day. I’m guessing they will. Disney and Imangi Studios aren’t going to want to miss out on money by hesitating.
As for the movie, Oz the Great and Powerful will be out shortly after Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful is released. You’ll be able to go see it March 8, 2013, which means you’ll have the iOS and Android app a week before the show.
