fire emblem awakeningIf you’re looking for Fire Emblem Awakening today, you should probably give it a few days. See, there is this tiny hitch with the game. A lot of stores didn’t get it. Even though Nintendo said Fire Emblem Awakening will be out on February 4, 2013, things happened and it isn’t available yet in a lot of stores. Even online retailers are unable to fulfill orders.

Nintendo hasn’t said what happened yet, but stores that have talked about the Fire Emblem Awakening delay cite shipping delays as the reason why it isn’t on store shelves. Some stores do have the game in stock, but most don’t.

Which means if you want Fire Emblem Awakening as soon as possible, you have to do a little research. Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Toys R Us all have product listings for it, but also say that it’s either out of stock or unavailable. Toys R Us even says the game won’t be shipping until around February 12, 2013. Walmart is the only site that says the game is in stock should someone want it shipped to their house or to their local store. Given that, I’d actually try calling a local Walmart first if you want the game.

Or, if you have a large enough SD card in your 3DS, say something bigger than the 2GB card it comes with, you can turn to the eShop. Fire Emblem Awakening is immediately available there as a $39.99 download. You can get it without any delays.

The GameStop from which I preordered said it’d be in tomorrow.

GameStop lied, but pretty much every Target around me has a couple in stock.

Got mine from the eShop last night. 😀 Took longer than usual to download it, probably due to demand, but it wasn’t too bad. And it’s worth the wait!
