At long last, The Simpsons: Tapped Out can be downloaded for Android in several countries including North America. Patient Android users have been waiting a very long time for this game while the iOS community served as test subjects for several months. In the North American version of the game, the winter wonderland theme has been replaced with a normal, non-seasonal Springfield. The one thing that hasn’t changed between this and the international version is the lack of support for EA’s Origin network.

In the iOS version of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Origin is used to visit the Springfield’s of other players, and it also serves as a cloud storage system. If for any reason a player wants to access their saved game from another iOS device, all they have to do is log-in to Origin to retrieve it. Unfortunately, no such system exists for Android.

EA wrote the following in the description for The Simpsons: Tapped Out:

- Android does not currently enable players to visit their friends’ Springfields.
– Game saves are not supported across multiple devices (each device will have its own save file).

Origin support is one of the reasons why a constant internet connection is required to play The Simpsons: Tapped Out. Without Origin, an always-on internet requirement is just annoying. What’s more annoying is how this is impacting iOS gamers who also have Android devices. The reviews section of Google Play has several players complaining about how they can’t access the same Springfield they created on iOS several months ago. This basically means they have to start over if they want to play on Android. It also means all the time and money that they sunk into this game would be for nothing.

So far, The Simpsons: Tapped Out for Android is continuing the trend of EA showing lackluster support for its games on Android. There have been too many situations where critical bugs were left unaddressed for weeks, if not months after EA released a game on Android. It seems like iOS is the place to go if you wish to play this game for an extended period of time.

Longing for origin? Origin sucks and would sht up the game further.
How about what ever server the game demands to be connected to the saves go there, come from there.
It’s not like the game hasn’t already demanded Network and Phone calls permissions already, why else would they need such permissions otherwise?

YET another example of EA crapping up the gaming world.
