Don’t Starve Insanity update is coming on February 12

Don’t Starve‘s next title update, entitled Insanity, is coming on February 12. Klei openly spoke about this update for a couple months. This update will give you one more meter to keep an eye on. In addition to watching your character’s hunger level and health, you’ll now have to pay close attention to the insanity meter. When the insanity meter depletes, your characters will hallucinate and eventually come under attack by creepy shadow monsters. Don’t worry though, there will be ways to restore your sanity. According to the accompanying trailer, consuming candy does the trick.

Another character is also joining the unfortunately few on the island. Wes, a mime, is coming along to make the game a little more difficult. Wes can’t talk, and thus can’t give you any tips. He also has trouble staying alive. His running animation is very well done though.

There are also some other new finds in the trailer. Wolfgang can be seen picking up a “Dark Sword” and “Night Armor.” These two pieces of equipment are transparent in appearance. Perhaps these can be used to fight off the insanity creatures.
