Wildman, an action RPG from Gas Powered Games, is no longer being funded on Kickstarter. Gas Powered Games canceled the Kickstarter campaign today. The developer’s founder, Chris Taylor also put up a final video update in which he states Gas Powered Games is in the process of finding the funding necessary to stay in business. Until that happens, Wildman is going dark.

Gas Powered Games had it rough this past month. In January, around 40 employees were let go from the company. At that time, Gas Powered Games was hanging on by a thread. This led Taylor to ask the Kickstarter community whether or not he should continue to fund Wildman through Kickstarter. The community suggested he stick it out, and that’s exactly what happened. Unfortunately for GPG, the crowdsourced funding didn’t come in quickly enough. Of the $1.1 million required to complete Wildman, GPG were only pledged $504,120 at the time the Kickstarter campaign was canceled.

So when will we know if GPG managed to stay alive? It depends on if the company can find additional funding. Due to the nature of such things, Taylor wrote those discussions will be kept private.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to share any specifics in public,” Taylor wrote on the Wildman Kickstarter page. “When we have news to share, we will be posting it on our site. If you want status updates, or if you want to continue discussing Wildman and/or this Kickstarter, please consider migrating over to forums.gaspowered.com.”

At the time of this writing, the Wildman site is down for maintenance.
