Okay all PS3 and Vita owners, time for a heads up! The February 12, 2013 PlayStation Store update includes free PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC. Gravity Rush‘s Kat and Starhawk‘s Emmett are now available and as long as you grab them before February 26, 2013, you don’t have to pay a thing.
I’d highly recommend grabbing them now, as these two will be the most expensive pieces of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC available once Sony starts charging for them. When the PlayStation Store updates on February 26, the price will jump from $0.00 per character to $4.99 each. Grab both and it’ll be $9.98. So yeah, this is a situation where procrastinating is a terrible idea.
This PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC characters act just as the regular characters once you acquire and install them. They have an Arcade mode storyline, an extra costumes, special icons and actions and a minion. Once they’re in the game, it will be like they were always there. I swear, you won’t even know they weren’t immediately available.
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you if you can get the PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC without buying the game. I already own the Vita version so it immediately showed up for me. If someone who doesn’t have the game wants to go ahead and try grabbing the DLC, let us know in the comments if you’re able to grab it for free. It could be a good thing to call dibs on, since you’ll own that DLC forever and could perhaps later go and get the game when it’s on sale.
Of the two new characters, Kat is my favorite so far. I think that’s because I’ve actually played Gravity Rush and really enjoyed it. Emmett has his moments and is a great character, but I think I’d appreciate him more if I knew more about him.
