The Valentine’s Day Nintendo Direct this morning sure proved that Nintendo loves us 3DS owners. The handheld was the main focus of the event! Reggie Fils-Aime talked about three 3DS games and one Wii U DLC pack that star Luigi, Mario’s other half. The other games mentioned were for the Wii U, but the 3DS was the star this time. Plus, Fils-Aime took time to even hype up DLC.

First, let’s go ahead and list all of the new games mentioned at the February 14, 2013 Nintendo Direct.

  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) – On June 9, 2013, 3DS owners will be able to be their own mayor of an Animal Crossing town.
  • BIT.TRIP Presents… Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (Wii U) – The remake of BIT.TRIP Runner will be on the Wii U eShop in 2013.
  • Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger (3DS) – The sequel to the original eShop tower defense game is coming to the eShop on April 11, 2013.
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) – This is a port of the Wii game of the same name, only it will be in 3D when it appears on the 3DS in Summer 2013.
  • HarmoKnight (3DS) – In HarmoKnight players fight in time with music. It comes to the eShop on March 28, 2013.
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us (Wii U) – It will be released April 16, 2013.
  • Kersploosh (3DS) – I have no idea what Kersploosh is, other than it’s a 3DS eShop game that will be released March 7, 2013.
  • Lego City Undercover (Wii U) – On March 18, 2013, we’ll see the highly anticipated new Lego game.
  • Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins (3DS) – On April 21, 2013, people can see what Chase McCain was like before he was the star of Lego City Undercover.
  • Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) – It will be out March 24, 2013 and will have local and online multiplayer for the Hunter, Rush and Polterpup Modes.
  • Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS) – All the Nintendo characters are going golfing again in Summer 2013.
  • Mario & Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move (3DS) – This is a new eShop game that should be released in 2013.
  • Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (3DS) – A new Mario & Luigi RPG set inside Luigi’s dreams that will be released in Summer 2013.
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS, Wii U) – It will be released March 19, 2013.
  • Need for Speed: Most Wanted U (Wii U) – Wii U racers will get to race on March 19, 2013 and will come with free Ultimate Speed Pack DLC.
  • Toki Tori 2 (Wii U) – It’s still headed to the Wii U eShop, though it doesn’t have a release date yet.
  • The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (Wii U) – Wii U owners who are tired of ZombiU can turn to this on March 26, 2013.

I told you Animal Crossing: New Leaf would be announced during this Nintendo Direct!

Today was one of the first Nintendo Directs where DLC was also a pretty big thing. One of the bggest announcements was New Super Luigi U, a DLC content pack that will be available for New Super Mario Bros. U. It will add alternate versions of the game’s 80 stages. I think the Luigi name was added ust to make it sound cool. Free Style Savvy: Trend Setters DLC is also coming, with Animal Crossing inspired Gracie Grace clothes and real world Liz Lisa clothing. Fire Emblem: Awakening also has more DLC immediately available, as the final Champions of Yore map is out and the Golden Gaffe gold-grind map has been released. Each are $2.50. Also, NInja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge will receive free costume DLC and 25 Ninja Trials before February 2013 ends.
