I am just bursting with excitement. Aksys announced another otome game on Valentine’s Day 2013! It has picked up Idea Factory’s Sweet Fuse: At Your Side, which is a really fantastic idea.
See, Sweet Fuse: At Your Side is, like Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, the kind of girl’s dating sim visual novel that appeals to both women and men. The heroine of the game is Saki Inafune, niece of Keiji Inafune of Mega Man, Resident Evil and soon Soul Sacrifice fame. Except here, he’s a man with an amusement park. Still, a Keiji Inafune cameo is awesome and he was involved in the game’s creation. In addition, Kumiko Suekane, the artist who designed the characters for the Ace Attorney series, drew up the Sweet Fuse: At Your Side characters as well.
Most importantly, Sweet Fuse: At Your Side isn’t just about romance. The person inside the Count Hogstein mascot suit blows up Inafune’s amusement park’s ferris wheel on opening day. Saki and six men chosen to participate in Hogstein’s game must solve puzzles and challenges to undo the villainous plot and escape the amusement park alive. Naturally, all six of these guys are also single and you can help Saki hook up with one of them while trying to escape.
Also interesting is that the “fuse” part of Sweet Fuse: At Your Side is based upon Saki’s temper. Players can have her keep cool or absolutely lose it at certain points of the games. This almost certainly affects the story and can help you reach one of 14 different endings. With that many available, I’m guessing there are a few really bad ones.
Anyways, Sweet Fuse: At Your Side is happening and is coming in Summer 2013. It’s a PSP game, but it will be on the PlayStation Store so both PSP and Vita owners can enjoy it. I say buy it. Buy it as many times as you can. If it does well, then we’re one step closer to maybe getting Idea Factory’s Beastmaster and Prince or Amnesia!
