Gearbox is getting ready to release a sixth playable class in Borderlands 2. This announcement was made during a panel at SXSW on Friday through a teaser trailer. The trailer’s text speaks of an experiment that has escaped from under Pandora.
Even though we never actually get to see the anything more than a silhouette of the character, we know his/her/its is very large and is likely a melee-based fighter. The trailer also shows the mystery character smashing around with huge fists.
A release date and price for this new class hasn’t been revealed yet. However, Joystiq has confirmed with Gearbox this character won’t be offered free of charge to those who purchased a season pass for Borderlands 2.
This will be the second character-focused downloadable content for Borderlands 2. The first dealt with the Mechromancer who was a young girl with a floating combat mech named Deathtrap. The Mechromancer costs $10, but was offered for free with pre-orders of the game.
Gearbox is going to share more information about the new class soon. For now, take a look at the trailer shown at SXSW. The video is courtesy of Polygon.
