This space is supposed to focus on the newest games and content hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace. More and more lately, the new games are HD updates of classic titles we’ve played already. In the case of Darkstalkers, I am perfectly OK with that. Darkstalkers Resurrection combines Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3, adding HD visuals, 8-player online lobbies and YouTube replay sharing.
Capcom is using the same online system that powered its updates Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins. Matchmaking now includes region matching, ping lock and ping display. After all, it doesn’t matter how good you or they are if you can’t maintain a connection. It’s 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) to embrace the dark.
Dead Space 3 is getting some new content with the Awakened add-on. Issac Clarke and John Carver are dealing with hallucinations that threaten to turn anyone into an enemy. There’s also the matter of a cult of Unitologists. EA is calling this “Dead Space’s darkest chapter,” which for this series is saying something. Awakened is 800 MP. ($10)
Demos this week include Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. Razor’s Edge changes difficulty levels, battles and visuals. Different stages allow you to play as Ryu or Ayane. Any Karma or Ninja Skills you acquire in the demo will transfer to the full version.
The Devil’s Cartel pits the Army of Two against a ruthless Mexican drug kingpin. Unleash your Overkill special ability when you need a little more destructive power. The demo is playable in online co-op or split screen local play.
Our Deal of the Week brings discounts on Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA IV is 800 MP. The Lost and the Damned is 400 MP, while The Ballad of Gay Tony is 800 MP.
Games on Demand adds F1 Race Stars for $34.99, NeverDead and Binary Domain are $19.99 each, while Kinect game Winter Stars is $29.99.
