On it’s own, the Pikachu 3DS XL is a ridiculously adorable, special edition system. It’s cute, it’s cool and it looks like our favorite pokemon is flying in for a hug. $199.99 isn’t at all a bad price to pay for it, especially considering the included 4GB SD Card. Now Target is making it even better. An image from the store’s ad for March 24-30, 2013 has leaked out and it shows that the store is taking $40 off of the price of that gorgeous system when it launches on March 24, 2013. Granted, the deal applies to all 3DS XLs and not just the Pikachu model, but I think we all know which one we really care about.

$159.99 is an absolutely fantastic price for the Pikachu 3DS XL, and seems designed to cater to Nintendo’s 3DS XL promotion. If you buy any 3DS XL and a copy of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon or Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, register them with Club Nintendo, then you get to download one of five games for free. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity are $39.99 each. So with Target’s upcoming sale, you can get a 3DS XL and one of those two games for $199.98 before tax. Essentially, you’re making your own 3DS XL and two game bundle for $200!

If you go for this bundle, go for the best. Grab the Pikachu 3DS XL. Both Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity look good, so either one is fine. When it comes to your free game, go with Super Mario 3D Land or Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. It isn’t that the three other free games, Star Fox 64 3D, Freakyforms Deluxe and Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone aren’t good, but those three are cheaper titles and aren’t as awesome as the Mario or Professor Layton games.
