build a bear my little ponyHave you ever seen a grown man walk into a Build-A-Bear to create a colorful pony for himself? Well, stop by your local store and get ready for an invasion of the bronies. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic characters are landing on Build-A-Bear store shelves on April 1, 2013. Not only that, but April 1-7, 2013 is going to be My Little Pony Week at all Build-A-Bear locations. There will be love. Probably tolerance. And maybe some debate over why Twilight Sparkle or Fluttershy would have been better choices than Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.

I found out about the Build-A-Bear My Little Pony collaboration from a flyer sent to my mailbox. (Don’t judge me, I couldn’t resist getting the Harajuku Hugs panda!) It said that Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash will be available for a limited time, as will specific pony clothing and accessories for them. Also, it said that the week’s events will include information on how to style the pony’s hair and encouraged potential customers to come in wearing My Little Pony clothing.

Now, onto pricing. The base My Little Pony stuffed dolls aren’t that expensive, given usual Build-A-Bear prices. You can get either Pinkie Pie or Rainbow Dash for $24. That includes a birth certificate/code to play with them in the online game Bearville. It’s the outfits and accessories that will get you. For example, for $6 more people can make their pony play the My Little Pony theme song when hugged. A full Knight costume will be $15. A cape is $13.50. The cheapest item is the official hairbrush, which is $3. You didn’t think they’d give you a plastic brush for your pony for free, did you? Ha!

That being said, I went one. Preferably Rainbow Dash, because I got that awesome Rainbow Dash hoodie with ears and a mane for Christmas. Pinkie Pie is cute and all, but I think she would have looked a lot better with sculpted, fabric hair that would have shown off all her curls. And apparently I’m 5 years old again, because I’m debating the merits of stuffed My Little Pony toys. Go ahead and insert an audible sigh here.

This may sound silly. But could you tell me what all is on this flyer? My daughter got one in the mail and the whole top half was ripped off. I’m not sure why someone would rip/steal a child’s piece of mail from build a bear. Lol

      Hi Cassi!

It was just your basic ad. It said that Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash will be available to make at Build a Bear starting April 1, 2013. It also said to come in the first week its available to get a booklet of possible hairstyles kids (or adults :D) could do for their new stuffed pony.
