Today is just a big, old trailers day in the world of video games, isn’t it? First, we had a confirmation of the Grand Theft Auto V trailers coming out tomorrow, and now we get a new Beyond: Two Souls trailer. This trailer was released for a special location, actually. Sony and Quantic Dream had the game appear at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, and decided to release the trailer to celebrate that debut.

But enough talk. You’re here for the new Beyond: Two Souls trailer and I won’t keep you.

In case you’re in a place where you can’t watch, I’ll sum up most of what’s happened for you. It begins with Jodie at a payphone, presumably near death and homeless. She’s calling Nathan Dawkins, the scientist who’s been working with her, trying to figure out how and why Jodie is connected to the spiritual entity Aiden. She then passes out, and we get to see scenes from Jodie’s life over the years. We see her trouble childhood, her parents abandoning her to the government research facility, working with Dawkins, training with what look like government agents, falling in love, riding a horse in the wilderness, dressed as a soldier and a lot of other things. Seems Jodie’s had quite an interesting life.

Of course, you had to figure that Beyond: Two Souls is going to pack in a lot of content. It does follow Jodie through fifteen years of her life. It picks up right when Aiden starts appearing and getting to be a problem when she’s 8, and then continues until what’s probably a big Something happens at 23.

Sony also shared uStream footage of Beyond: Two Souls from the Tribeca Film Festival as well. I’m embedding that here as well, in case you have a lot of time to devote to learning moe about the game.

As you can see, this segment follows homeless Jodie, as she’s forced to live on the street because of Aiden.

Beyond: Two Souls comes out on October 8, 2013 and is a PS3 exclusive. I’m pretty sure I’ll be pre-ordering, especially since that nets you free DLC. Is anyone else in?
