There is a lot of information coming out about the Xbox One. In an effort to tidy things up a bit, we’ve come up with a fact sheet about its features. Absent from this list are the details surrounding the console’s ability to play used games. We know Xbox One won’t ban all used games outright, but it’s still unclear how Microsoft is handling it. There may be a fee associated with playing a game on different Xbox Live accounts. Until we know for sure, we’ll leave it floating in the air.

A list of Xbox One facts is below. We’ll add to this list as we learn more information.

  • Xbox One will be released this year
  • Every Xbox One will come with a new version of Kinect
  • Kinect needs to be plugged in for the console to function
  • It’s not an always-on machine, but it does require an internet connection
  • Xbox Live can replace your cable box
  • Xbox One uses the cloud to store your data and apply updates
  • Xbox One uses the Snap feature from Windows 8 to display two applications at once
  • Xbox One has an 8-core x86 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive and a Blu-ray drive
  • Xbox One can awaken instantly from sleep when you activate it
  • You can switch between apps, games, movies and music instantly
  • Xbox 360 games are not compatible with Xbox One
  • Games can be played while they install
  • Game updates will download in the background
  • Achievements can be spread out between multiple games
  • New achievements can be added by developers at any time
  • Xbox 360 achivements and Gamerscore will carry over
  • Xbox One contains a Game DVR that captures your gameplay for sharing on social networks and Xbox Live
  • Games are suspended whenever you change applications. They can be resumed from where you left off
  • The Xbox One controller features feedback on the triggers
  • The controller has an integrated battery
