State of Decay received a patch late last week that addressed many issues including an infestation bug that left many communities short on survivors. After downloading the patch, I started my game over since I lost too many people due to the bug. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m noticing a slight bump in difficulty and another potential bug that makes some infestation missions a little too easy.
I remember being able to swing melee weapons like a machine without using too much energy before the patch. Now it seems like pacing yourself is a lot more important. During one of my first Anger Management missions, I had a NPC tell me I couldn’t just go all out like I was doing. This was dialogue I never heard before. It’s now much harder to take on three or more zombies at once by simply spamming the attack button. I’m finding myself dodging a lot more now in a bid to save energy and create distance between my character and zombies. I must say, I think I like it better this way. It feels good to duck under a zombie right when it lunges at me. Fighting requires more planning, and that’s kind of what State of Decay is all about.
I haven’t run into a resurgence of the infestation bug, but I did notice how easy it is to complete the infestation missions where you have another character helping you out. On more than one occasion, I’ve taken out as little as two zombies before completing the mission. There were still a lot more in the area, but they didn’t seem to matter. On the other hand, infestations that are indicated by a blotch of red blood on the map are still proper infestations that contain several zombies.
These are just a couple things I noticed. This game is still a blast to play, and I’m looking forward to the second title update. Have you noticed any differences in your game?
